Michelle Puckett
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Blooming Butterflies, Inc. – Nonprofit Organization

Michelle Puckett is the Founder and CEO of Blooming Butterflies, Inc., a nonprofit organization she co-founded with her son, Charles Puckett, to make a meaningful impact in local communities and the broader world. With a deep passion for helping others and protecting our vital pollinators, Michelle is devoted to creating a legacy of compassion, education, and environmental stewardship.

Michelle’s early years were spent traveling across the United States with her family, as her parents partnered with renowned golf course designer Robert Trent Jones Sr. to build premier golf courses nationwide. These formative experiences shaped her adventurous spirit and strong work ethic.

She pursued higher education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and later earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Mississippi College.

A seasoned entrepreneur, Michelle has successfully owned and operated 12 businesses throughout her career. For the past 17 years, she has led Designer Diva Resale, a nonprofit resale boutique that partners with Blooming Butterflies to support independently operated shelters for battered women and children. The organization provides clothing, hygiene items, household essentials, and personal mentorship—helping women and families rebuild their lives with dignity.

Michelle also mentors autistic and intellectually challenged young adults, teaching them gardening, business skills, and environmental conservation through nursery operations that focus on protecting pollinators like monarch butterflies and honey bees.

At Blooming Butterflies, Michelle provides strong, visionary leadership—guiding the nonprofit in both its day-to-day operations and long-term strategy. Her core responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Planning & Development

  • Fundraising & Donor Engagement

  • Fiscal Oversight & Grant Management

  • Nonprofit Program Development

  • Board Relations & Governance

  • Human Capital & Volunteer Leadership

  • Community Outreach & Partnerships

  • Administrative & Operational Management

Michelle brings an extraordinary depth of experience, compassion, and drive to everything she touches. Her unwavering commitment to saving pollinators and uplifting vulnerable communities is at the heart of Blooming Butterflies' mission—and her life’s purpose.

Sassy Angel Eyes

Sassy Angel Eyes

Sassy is our Service "Comfort" Pup for the past 15 years.  Sassy loves to go to the battered women/children shelters comforting the women and children, making them smile every time we visit.

Sassy has visited children in the hospital taking stuffed bears to them and delivering them personally to the children at their bedside.

Sassy has visited the nursing homes bringing smiles to each senior citizen.  She loves to comfort and love all.

Sassy goes to work with Michelle at Designer Diva Resale, greeting the customers, walking with the elderly, comforting customers that are using walkers and wheelchairs.  Sassy has detected cysts, cancerous tumors, and other illnesses in our customers in the past.  Sassy has detected squeaky toys inside dogs which saved their lives. Sassy is the Grand Diva at Designer Diva Resale, our partner with Blooming Butterflies.

Sassy has helped open many, many bags of dirt for Michelle and our volunteers while planting the gardens at the shelters and at home.

Sassy is trained to locate butterflies on the ground so we can help them if needed.

Sassy is all about LOVE, caring, sensitive, sweet and considerate of others.

Rosemary Carter

Sassy Angel Eyes

Rosemary Carter

Rosemary was our Creative & Inspiring Mentor for our fundraisers.

Rosemary is Michelle's Mother and Charles's Grandmother.  Sadly, we lost her, (our best friend), suddenly, May 16, 2022.

We will have a dedicated meditating garden area in memory of Rosemary.  This area will have all her favorite flowers with windchimes she collected and loved.

Rosemary was "our central contact station" as this is how we all knew what everyone was doing and how we should pray for each other.

Rosemary taught us ways to care for plants and had numerous marketing ideas to share with the rest of the board members.  She contributed craft ideas and numerous ways to raise funds in our fundraisers.

Rosemary was the Chief Operational Officer, Carter Golf Inc., worked to build this golf course business to a multi million dollar business.

She loved life, plants, butterflies and her family.  We will always love you and you will remain in our hearts and an Angel on Blooming Butterflies board.
