Blooming Butterflies will be purchasing the property to build the facility that will allow us to have the greenhouses to grow the milkweed and nectar plants. We will have a facility to hold workshop, or other educational opportunities for you.
Our team draws together learning from the experts from the fields of habitat restoration, entomology, plant ecology, education, farming, and conservation biology with a single passion: Protecting the life that sustains us.
Our staff will collaborate with a wide range of federal and state agencies, tribes, regional governments, research universities, and nonprofits, and will maintain productive working relationships with the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and state fish and wildlife agencies.
Blooming Butterflies will routinely work with a wide range land owners and land managers to support their conservation efforts.
· We develop habitat management guidance for broad landscapes and land uses that enables land managers to consider the needs of at-risk species or groups like pollinators when managing habitat.
· We will prepare Environmentally Safe Activity Plans for pollinators and beneficial insects on farms and within other landscapes.
We are developing survey protocols and guidance for public agencies to facilitate monitoring of at-risk invertebrate species and their habitats.
· We engage in longer-term projects to monitor the effectiveness of pollinator habitat restoration projects. We currently are teaching individually owned battered women/children shelters how to build habitats and how they can participate in saving the endangered Monarch Butterflies. These women relate to the Monarch Butterflies as these women are transforming into their new lives just as the caterpillars do inside their chrysalis, birthing into a new, beautiful butterfly with a new beginning.
As a nonprofit organization, Blooming Butterflies plan to produce publications annually, all of which employ the best available research to guide effective efforts in saving the endangered Monarch Butterflies & Honeybees.
We will present workshops on bee and butterfly identification, monitoring, and habitat management, as well as trainings.
